Different washing options on your machine

washing-machineWhen it comes to using our washing machine, most of us always select the same cycle and only change the water setting to suit our needs. However, if you take the time to examine your washer, you will find that there are many options you can choose from. To help you understand this array of possibilities, Platinum Services, an appliance specialist in Chicago, has prepared the following article. Be sure to get in touch with us if you have any question.

First, keep in mind that the cycles available for your specific model may differ from those listed below and that they will be described in your owner manual. Also, keep in mind that cycle refers to the series of steps that result in your clothes being clean. The temperature and intensity at which the clothes are washed basically underline the cycle you selected. You will find a non-exhaustive list below.

The Regular Cycle

This cycle can also be labelled “Linen”, “Normal”, or “Cotton”. Some models also offer the options “heavy”, “regular”, and “light” with this cycle. This is the cycle used to wash heavy clothes such as cotton shirts and jeans. It’s also very good for thorough washing of very dirty clothes.

 Permanent Press

You will also find this cycle labelled “Casual”. Taking the intensity down a notch, the permanent press cycle spins clothes slower than the regular cycle. This translates to fewer wrinkles on the clothes and less stress to the fabrics of the clothes. Synthetic materials tend to wash out well with the permanent press option.

Delicate

Also called “Wool” or “Hand-wash”, this cycle is mostly used for very delicate fabrics, because clothes are washed very softly and spin slowly, which is why it is used for clothes made of wool or lace. That being said, keep in mind that this cycle will not clean the clothes as thoroughly as the other cycles.

As mentioned earlier, specific models may have cycles that are not listed here. When in doubt, always refer to your owner manual and, of course, make sure to read the label on your clothes. Also, if you notice that your washing machine is not working as it should be, do not hesitate to give us a call here at Platinum Cares.
