Home Appliance Cleaning Tips
Even though we’re still in January, it’s time to start thinking about the yearly spring cleanup. Why not get a head start by checking out your major home appliances and making sure that they are working properly? To help you get started, Platinum Cares has put together a short list of things to check out when you’re cleaning up around the house. Be sure to get in touch with our appliance repair company in Chicago if you have any question.
First, did you know that your washing machine is actually equipped with a filter? Much like the lint trap in your dryer, your washer’s filter needs to be cleaned on a regular basis. One of the most common signs that this filter requires attention is the presence of dust residues on your clothes even after you wash them. Depending on your model, it will either be located in the middle drum or somewhere around the edges. Check in your instruction manual for specifics.
While you’re in the laundry room, make sure you clean your dryer’s filtration system. At one point, you need to do more than emptying the lint trap out. You need to remove it and gently vacuum under it, because dust always manages to get there, and in time, it can reduce your dryer’s efficiency.
Also, if you have appliances in your garage, make sure that winter is not taking its toll on them. If you notice ice has formed on some pipes, inspect to make sure none has busted, or you’ll be in for a nasty surprise once the warm weather comes around.
Finally, you should run a cleaning cycle on your dishwasher if your house is equipped with one, because the thoroughness of the wash can be affected by food particles that have accumulated over time.
As you can see, there are many things to do around the house when it comes to appliances. Cleaning them on a regular basis will certainly expand their lifespan. That being said, if you notice anything unusual with any of your major home appliances, be sure to get in touch with Platinum Cares for appliance service in Franklin Park and Chicago.
